The Thomas F. Eagleton Federal Courthouse, located in downtown St. Louis, features, trademarks of historical St. Louis architecture with its majestic columns and domes. On the exterior, precast concrete cladding is punctuated with large expanses of glass, blending traditional and contemporary design themes. The dome’s massive stainless steel reflects the moody Midwest skies and the Gateway Arch.
Leonard Masonry and its subsidiary, St. Louis Stone & Supply, provided all of the masonry for the structure. The building’s lobby features eight Italian limestone columns that are approximately 34 feet high, and a combination of polished and rough, bus-hammered limestone panels, as well as polished and honed granite and polished marble panels. The permanency, beauty and strength of the masonry and stone materials are reflective of the federal courthouse’s use and important role in our society.
